What is traditional rum?
Traditional rum, which is also referred to as industrial rum, is made from molasses, which is a dark sticky juice and a by-product of sugar production. Foursquare,  El Dorado, Plantation, Chairman’s Reserve, Diplomatico & Havana club are quite popular in that category.

So what is the difference traditional rum and agricole rhum?
The main difference is the raw material used. Agricole rhum is made from fresh sugar cane juice and is mainly produced in the French Caribbean.  Rhum with an ‘h’ normally refers to agricole rhums. Clement, J.M, Trois Rivieres and Saint James are some of the rhum brands you might come across.
