ACROSS EUROPE AND THE USA, BARTENDERS SHARE THEIR MOST INSPIRING CHARACTERSFROM THE INDUSTRY
Banks Rums is a collection of uncommonly fine rums that are unique blends of some of the world’s finest rums from the East and West Indies. Created by bartenders, for bartenders, these carefully selected rums sourced from five and seven origins were chosen to create blends of exceptional depth, complexity and character. Banks Rums is supporting 22 bartenders from across Europe and the US during the current period of unprecedented change, with Blend With Character – a paid-for social media campaign that will support and recognise some of the bartending community’s most spirited and inspirational characters across the Banks Rums Instagram channel from 25 May until the end of July.
BLEND WITH CHARACTER
Using Banks 5 Island Blend or Banks 7 Golden Blend, bartenders from the UK, USA, Netherlands and Germany will pick out a key characteristic from their chosen blend that reflects a bartender or industry figure who has inspired, or is inspiring, them to shape their career. Whether it’s the Batavia Arrack from Java that gives Banks 5 Island Blend its funk, or the hints of Black Strap Molasses that gives Banks 7 Golden Blend its backbone; bartenders will bring the key characteristic of their chosen blend and bartender to the fore through a carefully designed cocktail. Shot from each of the bartenders’ homes, the series of short films inspired by character, will showcase the cocktail recipes and ingredients available to them at home as part of the brand’s Bartender Takeover of its social channels throughout May, June and July. Every single bartender involved in the takeover series will be reimbursed for their time, alongside covering the cost of all ingredients used.

Banks Rums’ Co-founder Jim Meehan was on a quest to create a rum with character, one that was versatile with layers of flavour and perfect for serving with a mixer, in a cocktail or in a punch. Bartenders including Erik Lorincz of Kwānt, London, Julie Rahn of Contemporary Bar, Berlin, and Nadine Madera from Beachhouse at the Moana, Honolulu – will recognise those who has helped shape their careers, past and present.

Ingredients:
1. 30ml Banks 7 Golden Blend
2. 15ml Pasilla pepper distillate
3. 30ml tropical water (clarified banana and mango)
4. 15ml wild pepper cordial (mix of White Penja pepper, Timu berry, Allspice and Voatsiperifery pepper)
Method:
1. Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass and pour over ice
