19 November, London, UK – SANTA TERESA®, one of the Caribbean’s first rum producers, has announced the launch of its new cacao bitters in partnership with The Bitter Truth®, creators of the world’s most awarded bitters range.
Available exclusively in the UK on-trade from December 2019, the bitters have been collaboratively designed to bring to life the subtle aromatic notes of walnuts, coffee and cacao in Santa Teresa 1796 across a range of classic and contemporary cocktails.
THE FLAVOURS OF VENEZUELA
Highlighting the world’s most beloved classic cocktail, The Old Fashioned*, Santa Teresa will encourage bartenders across the nation to explore the flavours of Venezuela and Santa Teresa 1796 with the flavourful and complex Aragua Old Fashioned.
With the Old Fashioned cocktail often perceived as intricate and time-consuming to perfect, Santa Teresa has partnered with The Bitter Truth to ensure quality, consistency and flavour with ease for bartenders.
The Aragua Valley has long been famous for 2 things: growing first-class cacao beans and being home to the Hacienda Santa Teresa, so it’s no surprise that cacao is the perfect pairing for Santa Teresa 1796. Inspired by the natural bounty of the Aragua Valley, where the Hacienda Santa Teresa was founded over 200 years ago, The Bitter Truth Santa Teresa 1796 Cacao Bitters will bring the flavours of Venezuela to life with its rich and versatile profile.
Geoff Robinson, Global Advocacy Manager and UK Brand Ambassador comments: “At Santa Teresa, we believe in simple things. From using the best possible ingredients to patiently crafting our rum with the highest degree of care and expertise, without any shortcuts. That’s why we partnered with The Bitter Truth to produce our very own cacao bitters, designed specifically to be used in Santa Teresa 1796 cocktails – because they make bitters the old fashioned way, with a long maceration to ensure they get maximum flavour.”
“Santa Teresa 1796 is truly a rum of unparalleled complexity and versatility, whether enjoyed neat, with a mixer or in a cocktail. With their latest innovation, we’re looking forward to bringing an even more elevated experience to our patrons, highlighting the rich notes of 1796 with the Cacao Bitters.” says Raffaele di Monaco, Bar Manager of The Blue Bar at The Berkeley Hotel, London.
